Front Royal, Virginia – The Warren Wilson College women's soccer team earned a decisive win over USCAA foe Christendom College this weekend, 6-1.
The owls got on the scoreboard first in the 16th minute of play when junior Jazmin Featherstone found sophomore Chloe Riess in behind the backline. Riess calmly found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. Riess would add to her total again in the 24th minute. It would be Featherstone's turn to get on the scoreboard next, scoring a long-range shot in the 43rd minute.
At the start of the second half, junior Sierra Bell sent a nice free kickball into the box for senior Ally Nestler. The goal was Nestler's first of the season. In the 73rd minute, freshman Loie Felty drove down the sideline from the outside back position. Felty put a great ball into the box to senior Carly Andrews. Andrews tapped it home scoring her first of the season. The Crusaders took advantage of the Owls attacking in numbers and were able to get on the scoreboard in the 75th minute. The Owls would add their last goal of the match when Bell beat a few players in the box and hit a strike with tremendous pace, too hard for Crusaders' goalkeeper to get a hand to.
Up next, the Owls travel to Lancaster, South Carolina on Thursday to play against USC Lancaster at 4 pm.
