Swannanoa, N.C. – The #9 ranked Warren Wilson College women's soccer team won Saturday's matchup against the visiting #5 USCAA Central Penn handedly, 6-0.
The Owls started off strong scoring a quick goal just three minutes into the match. The Owls attacked the flank and sophomore Sierra Bell beat players on the endline, which opened up space for her to go to goal. The Owls would score again in the 18thminute with some good combinational play starting with Bell who found freshmen Chloe Riess who found the head of junior Allyson Nestler who calmly found the back of the net. The Owls would net one more goal before the half in the 35 minute. This time freshman Olivia Lawrence played a perfectly placed ball across the box for junior Camille Ference who tapped it home. This would be Ference's first goal of the season.
In the second half of play, the Owls dominated the tempo and right off the whistle, Riess found herself on the scoreboard, tallying her 7th goal of the season in the 46th minute. A little over ten minutes later, Nestler found herself 1-on-1 in the box and beat the defender but was taken down in the process and earned the Owls a penalty kick. Captain and senior defender, Maddie Harris stepped up and placed the kick just right past the Knights' goalkeeper. The final goal of the match would come from sophomore Susie Lusardi, who drove up the sideline and crossed a ball in to senior Ashleigh Richter to make it 6-0.
The Owls outshot the Knights 35-4. Owls goalkeeper Kaitlyn Zinnecker added one save on the match.
