William Gibson brings extensive coaching experience from his time spent in high school and the AAU circuit.
Prior to joining Robin Davis' staff Gibson was the Head JV/Assistant Varsity Boys coach at D.W. Daniel High School in South Carolina. In 2010 the Lions won the Region Championship as well as the South Carlina State 3A Championship. Two of his former players, Deandre Hopkins (Clemson University/Houston Texans) and Shaq Lawson (Clemson University/Buffalo Bills) went on to play Division 1 football and are currently in the NFL. In 2011, just hours before the start of the season, Gibson was named the interim head coach for Daniel High School. The Lions repeated as Region Champions and advanced to the state playoffs. For his accomplishments that year Gibson was named 3A Region and All-Mountain Lakes Coach of the Year.
During the summer of 2011, Gibson's AAU, the Carolina Express 17U, advanced to the AAU Division 2 National Championship game, which was televised on ESPN 3.
Following his time at Daniel he was named the Head Boys Varsity coach at Pickens High School, also located in South Carolina.
Coach Gibson also works Clemson University basketball camps yearly.
The South Carolina native has a B.S. in Business Administration/Management and is working towards his Master's in Special Education. Coach Gibson and his family reside in Central, S.C.
"I would like to thank Coach Robin Davis for this amazing opportunity." I have really enjoyed my interactions with everyone (staff/players) during the process. I feel very fortunate to be in the Warren Wilson family, and am looking forward to building a winning culture on and off the court."
