Women's Basketball Stumbles Late, Falls to Penn State Lehigh-Valley

Uniontown, PA - The 6th seeded Lady Owls arrived in Uniontown, PA at USCAA National Tournament for a match up against the 3rd seeded Lions from Penn State Lehigh Valley. In a game that saw several lead changes and large leads by both teams, the game would end in a 88-85 loss for the Owls.

The Owls went into halftime up by 2 and would go on a impressive third quarter run only to be hit by foul trouble. The Lions had 53 foul shot attempts to the Owls 28.

"They had over 35 plus foul shot attempts in the second half, everything in the paint seemed to result in a foul and it killed our momentum. When Niya and Danielle fouled out it was a crucial loss to our ability to control the boards. Then Danasia fouled out with a minute left and we had to look to others to take shots down the stretch. It was an unfortunate ending, 33 fouls against one team is a lot to over come, especially when most of those result in two shots. We still had a chance to tie it at the buzzer but fell short. I am proud of the fight this team showed tonight." stated head coach Robin Martin.

Danasia Dumas led the Owls with 29. She was followed by Amber Godfrey who had 20. Danielle Hinkelman recorded a double double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Asia Caldwell also reached double digits with 10.
