As the new Tennis coach for the reorganization of the Warren Wilson College Program in 2018/2019, Greene will spearhead the resurgence of the Men’s team and the inaugural Women’s team. The Men's team was originally led by WWC Hall of Fame member Ron Wilson from 1973-1981.  

Coach Greene says “I am tremendously honored and enthusiastically accept this opportunity to serve as coach and steward of the newly reestablished WWC Tennis programs. I look forward to mentoring and guiding our student athletes during their educational advancement as well as the collegiate tennis experience.  It is always my goal to provide knowledge daily, while creating memories that will last for a lifetime” said Greene.  

Jim’s arrives at WWC with 25+ years of coaching experience in tennis. As Head coach for both high school and collegiate teams, Jim has infused success wherever the challenge has arisen. Providing a first time seen national ranking for SMC (Spartanburg Methodist College) (NJCAA DI) and steering Newberry College (NCAA DII) to second place and the Finals of the SAC Tournament in his first year at the helm. Greene was twice named coach of the year in Region X of the NJCAA DI.     

Among his accomplishments as a club professional Greene has served as Director or Head Pro for many clubs in North and South Carolina, Including Greenville Country Club, Greenville S.C.  and Hendersonville Racquet Club Hendersonville N.C. and most recently was the Director of Tennis for Red Fox Country Club in Tryon, N.C.  During the summers for the past 10 years, Jim has applied his instructional talents for Wyndam Resorts at Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure N.C.

Jim attended and played tennis for North Greenville Junior College, Tigerville, S.C. and was a walk on for the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus, Honolulu, HI. Throughout his life time,  Jim has been involved in all types of sport and competition.  

Serving as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Navy and traveling throughout the world. Jim eventually returned to his beloved native Carolina.  Attesting “There is no substitute for travel and the understanding of the world it provides, but truly sometimes the best things in life are often found within your own back yard.” Jim hails from the Upstate of South Carolina and is married to loving wife Rhett along with three sons, Jay, John and Alex in Tryon, N.C.
