Men's Soccer Drops Hard Fought Game

Men's Soccer Drops Hard Fought Game

Swannanoa, N.C. - The Owls of Warren Wilson College men's soccer hosted the Tigers of Hiwassee College at Homecoming. It was the first match of a home and away series between the two teams. The Owls struck first with a great individual effort by Ansel Sherman, Assisted by Levi Jackson. However, it was Hiwassee that took the advantage scoring four goals in succession. Reid Williams scored his first Collegiate goal, and looked to turn the tide when Hiwassee scored again with a minute to go before the half. Owls keeper Yaell Madonado-Figueroa had a handful of clutch saves to keep the Owls in the match. The Halftime score was Hiwassee 5, Owls 2.

The second half started with a goal for the Owls, by Sherman, who scored a brace on the day. The rest of the half was full of great defending and chance after chance just miss. Kezar Berger, Mario Vigil and captains Isaac Davis and Tristan Perryman all played a great second half on defense, keeping a dangerous Hiwassee team at bay. Although the Owls had numerous attacks, Hiwassee held on to get their win.

The Owls look to keep things rolling as they head to Appalachian Bible College, Thursday, October 11th.
