Durham, N.C. - Men's basketball traveled to North Carolina Central University to take on the Eagles of NC Central. The Owls started the game off solid, capitalizing on great defensive possessions, which turned into baskets on the offensive end. 12 minutes into the first half the Owls saw glimmers of hope, as they were only down 10 points. The Owls missed some shots that they typically make and gave up a few offensive rebounds that the Eagles capitalized on. The Eagles would go on a run to finish the half to push their lead to 21.
The second half was all NC Central. The Owls defense dropped and their offense was non-existent, and the Eagles capitalized on every Owls mishap. Eventually pushing the lead to as much as 69 points, the Owls would fall 123-57.
"I thought we had a great first half, but we were a completely different team when we came out in the second half. This has been the tale of our season. We either start slow and finish well, or vice versa. We will continue to stay the course and we will put it all together," stated head coach Anthony Barringer.
Junior guard Saadiq Johnson led the Owls with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
