Powell, TN - Men's Basketball got back to their winning ways with a convincing 101-62 victory over Crown College.
The Owls took an early commanding lead and never looked back. Taking a 22 point lead into the half, the Owls seemed to be playing the style of play that Warren Wilson Basketball emobies.
The second half was more of the Owls dominating the game. Their defense stifled the Crusaders, as the Owls held their opponent to 17.2% from the three-point line and 27.8% from the field.
"Going into tonight we shook up the starting lineup and made it a point to focus on the defensive side of the ball. We have struggled with communication, defensive rebounding, and transition defense. The guys did a great job of answering the call tonight. They were able to see that when we do those things well, we can dominate games, and thats what we did tonight," stated head coach Anthony Barringer.
Junior guard Jordan Gant led all scorers with 24 points and he also pulled down 5 rebounds on 4-10 shooting from 3. Fellow juniors Justin Storr and Saadiq Johnson chipped in 16 and 15, both knocking down 5-3 pointers a piece. The Owls knocked down 20 three pointers collectively and forced the Crusaders into 26 turnovers. The Owls dished out 26 assists collectively.
The Owls are back in action on Wednesday, as they travel to Newberry, South Carolina to take on the Wolves of Newberry College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
