Joni Williamson became Warren Wilson College’s Director of Athletics and Adventure Sports on May 30, 2018.
Williamson most recently served as an assistant athletic director at the National Collegiate Athletic Association in academic and membership affairs. Prior to that, she was the associate athletics director at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and a sales manager at the Greene County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Additionally, Williamson served as athletics promotions director at Wright State University and as the compliance coordinator and event and facilities operations assistant at Washington State University.
Williamson is a former swimming student-athlete and has coached at the club and NCAA Division I and III collegiate levels. Williamson earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Evansville, her master’s in recreation and sport science from Ohio University, and is currently pursuing her doctorate of education in global sports leadership from East Tennessee State University. She is also a graduate of the Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly NACWAA) Institute for Administrative Advancement and the NCAA Leadership Institute.
Williamson resides in Swannanoa with her husband Andy, son Cooper and daughter Aurora.
