VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - The USCAA has announced its All-American and individual End of the Year award winners for women's soccer division 1 and 2. The ceremony was held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center following the first day of competition in the USCAA Fall Championship Week event. The awards banquet brought together 1,100 student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans from across the association.
The Warren Wilson College women's soccer team had two student-athletes named to the All-American teams, senior captain Maddie Harris and sophomore Susie Lusardi.
Harris named to Second Team All-American, anchored the backline for the Owls this season. Harris has been named All-American in 2017 and 2016 on Honorable Mention.
"We have only given up 10 goals this season and she is a huge factor in our success. She tirelessly works harder than any player on the team and has gone above and beyond for our program. If our team deserves any credit it would due to her impact," said head coach Lydia Vandenbergh.
Lusardi was named to First Team All-American, the transfer goalkeeper for the Owls this season. Only allowing 10 goals this season, making 45 saves at .818 percentage made her one of the top goalkeepers in the country.
"Susie is a fantastic goalkeeper who kept us in games this season. We upset the #5, #8, and #11 ranked teams in the country all with shutouts. She is a natural leader back there and I'm excited to watch her continue to grow," added Vandenbergh.
