MISSION AND COMMITMENTS

Intramural Sports program mission is to serve WWC students, faculty and staff by providing an opportunity for a quality competitive and social outlet while maintaining a fun and safe environment. Our student-led program strives for excellence by emphasizing the values of good sportsmanship, integrity, and cooperation and aims to create a diverse experience that all participants want to return to year after year. We are committed to the following goals:

• Listening and communicating with patrons and participants

• Responding to patron and participant inquires completely and accurately

• Engaging in a team environment in order to accomplish goals and achieve success

• Managing and maintaining quality equipment, services and facilities

• Providing a safe and quality atmosphere for all participants

Participation, Policies And Procedures

  1. Current students, faculty and staff in good standing are eligible to participate in Intramural Sports. Including spouses and alumni if approved.

  2. Former professional athletes are not eligible to participate in the same or similar sport unless permission is granted by the Intramural Sports Director.

  3. Participants are responsible to learn and abide by the eligibility & playing rules for each sport they play in.

  4. Players who exhibit poor behavior may be suspended from participation pending outcome of meeting with the Director of Intramural. This includes, but is not limited to, excessive or violent contact, verbal abuse of players or officials, fighting, multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, cheating, playing as an ineligible player or destructive actions toward equipment, facility, staff or players.

  5. A player suspension applies to all intramural sports during the suspension.

  6. Players are subject to facility policies such as dress code, ID requirement, and conduct.

  7. Captains are responsible for sharing information from Captains Meetings and emails with members of team.

VARIOUS FORMATS OF PLAY

  1. Regular Season/League Play - this format will consist of either a three-week or five-week regular season, followed by a single elimination playoff bracket.

  2. Week-Long Tournament: these events will be played over the course of one week and may be single-elimination, double-elimination, or a round robin followed by single elimination format.

  3. One-Day Tournament: these events will begin and complete in the course of one day (typically played on the weekend) and may be single-elimination or double-elimination format.

  4. Ladder: these events will allow participants to contact one another to schedule their own playing dates/times. Participants will self–report scores into IMLeagues website, and ladder standings will be updated accordingly. These events typically last over the course of several weeks or an entire semester.

  5. Walk-Up: these events will not require any prior registration and are open for participants who show up and would like to play. These events are typically more recreational in nature.

Tuesday/Thursday - 7:00-8:30 P.M.

Location: Bryson Gymnasium

*This may change if basketball has games or practice

 

Non-Varsity Pickup Basketball

Monday/Wednesday - 12:00 - 1:00 P.M.

Location: DeVries Gymnasium

 
 

COMING IN MARCH

3 v 3 Basketball 
*Teams must have a minimum of 4 players
 
4 v 4 Beach Volleyball
*Teams must have a minimum of 5 players
